The M2 iPad Pro 2022 is undoubtedly one of the most powerful and refined tablets out there, with Apple claiming that it can even replace a full-fledged computer. However, as the tablet becomes more of an integral part of our lives, we expect it to be waterproof as the smartphone do. So, is the iPad Pro 2022 waterproof? Can it withstand accidental spill or soak?
Is M2 iPad Pro 2022 waterproof
In short, no. Actually, none of the smartphones or tablets are waterproof, as it means being impervious to water. The accurate term should be “water-resistant”, which is often referred to as an ‘IP’ rating which stands for Ingress Protection. For instance, all the iPhone 14 models are rated IP68, meaning that they are both water and dust-resistant and can survive in water up to 6m for 30 minutes.
Kindly note that an IP rating simply means the device has rubber gaskets or some sort of mechanism to prevent water from entering the device through all possible ingress points like the charging port, speaker grilles, buttons, etc. If water enters the device, it can still get damaged.
How to protect your M2 iPad Pro 2022 against water damage
As the saying goes, prevention is the best cure. So if you want to protect your iPad Pro against water damage, keep it away from water or any other sort of liquids. If you constantly spill liquids or like to take the tablet to the pool, we’d suggest you put it in a plastic zipper bag or a waterproof case. For more protection you can also purchase AppleCare+ along with your iPad as it includes unlimited incidents of accidental damage protection.
Are there any water-resistant tablets?
There are a few water-resistant tablets on the market, though. They are usually rugged and can cost you a little more compared to typical tablets. But, since you won’t get a new one every time something happens, you’ll save money in the long run. If you would like one, we recommend Samsung Galaxy Tab Active 4 Pro which was just released this autumn.
