How to split screen on iPad
Open an app on your iPad and look for three dots at the top of the app. Tap on it and you are offered three options: Split View, Slide Over, and Full Screen. Tap the Split View button.
After that, the current app will move aside for another app. Tap the app you want to add from the Home Screen or in the Dock, then it will appear side by side with the current app. To adjust the amount of each screen, drag the app divider to the left or right.
You can also display the second app like a floating pane. Just go back to the three options at the top screen and choose Slide Over. To end multitasking, tap the Full Screen button on the multitasking toolbar. Alternately, drag the app divider over the app that you want to close.
Why you can’t use Split Screen on your iPad?
If you can’t find three dots at the top of the screen, chances are that the app doesn’t support Multitasking, or Split Screen. To take advantage of this feature, the device must be either an iPad Pro, iPad 5th generation or newer, iPad Air 2 or newer, or an iPad Mini 4 or newer.
