You may be tempted to buy the new Galaxy S22 series for the upgraded display, rear cameras, or internals, but you may also be fascinated by their plenty of nifty features, such as always-on display (AOD). It is a feature that’s been widely applied to Android phones, and based on Android 12 and One UI 4.1 software system, you can do even more with AOD.
So what is AOD? In a word, Samsung’s always-on display allows you to view the time, date, notifications, missed calls, and more when the screen is turned off. You can also customize the AOD by adding a bunch of things like wallpapers, images, text, and quick access to music, schedules and more.
Some people may worry that AOD will drain the battery, but actually, the battery it consumes is negligible. The Galaxy S22 series’s AMOLED display will only turn on the pixels required to show text, images, etc. while all the other pixels are turned off. This is why even turning on AOD for a whole day is not a problem.
How to enable always-on display?
1. via Settings menu
Go to Settings, select Alway On Display. Turn on the toggle to enable the feature. You can also adjust the settings from this screen.
2. via Quick Settings
Access your Quick Panel from the screen, then tap Always On Display. To adjust the settings, tap and hold Always On Display, choose Always On Display again after the Lock screen menu pops out.
3. customize the settings
There’re various AOD settings, you can adjust them according to your liking.
Clock style: Customize the style and color of the clock or upload your own images and GIFs.
Show always: Display AOD as long as your phone is off.
Show for 10 seconds: This is a default setting which means that you need to tap the screen when it’s off to make AOD show for 10 seconds.
Show as scheduled: Display your AOD at certain times.
Screen orientation: Display AOD in portrait or landscape mode.
Show music information: Show music info when the FaceWidgets music controller is in use.
