Which iPhone and iPad support iOS 13

test-iOS-13

Apple announced iOS 13 at its World Wide Developer Conference with a heck of a lot new features, including:

  • 30% faster Face ID unlock
  • 50% smaller app download sizes
  • 60% smaller app update sizes
  • 2x faster app launches

Apple had released the Beta version and it’s available to download and update now. Earlier this month, a lot of rumors claimed that iOS 13 is only compatible with iPhones after iPhone 6s,  is that true? Does iPad also support iOS 13?

According to the description on Apple official website, iOS 13 is supported on iPhone Xs, iPhone Xs Max, iPhone XR, iPhone X, iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus, iPhone 7, iPhone 7 Plus, iPhone 6s, iPhone 6s Plus, iPhone SE and iPod touch (7th generation). iPad is not on the list, while Apple released the iPadOS along with the iOS 13, it is basically the iOS 13 for iPad, with a change of name. The compatible iPads are: All iPad Pros, iPad (6th, 5th Generation), iPad Mini (5th, 4th Generation), iPad Air (3rd, 2nd Generation).

How to install iOS 13?

Since now it’s only available for Beta version, don’t expect it’s a perfect mature system and has smooth user experience. Therefore, you’d better backup your device before download and install the new iOS 13 Beta, in case the existing apps don’t work fine with the new system. Even though iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus supports iOS 13, I don’t think it’s a good idea to update now, the models are quite outdated and the Beta version might not go well with them.

Install the Public Beta version of iOS 13:

1.Click Sign Up on the Apple Beta page and register with your Apple ID.

2.Log in to the Beta Software Program.

3.Click Enroll your iOS device. (If you signed up for a previous version’s beta last year you may need to uninstall the profile for that and then re-enroll for the new one.)

4.Go to beta.apple.com/profile on your iOS device.

5.Download and install the configuration profile.

6.That will make the beta version available in the Settings –> General–>Software Update.
