The new-released Samsung Galaxy S9 and S9 plus are, technically, the best phone Samsung offers. To fight for Apple’s smartphone crown, it comes with many surprising features, such as revolutionary camera, Intelligent scan, Dolby Atoms, AR emoji, Super Slow-mo and more.
What is Super Slow-mo?
Samsung contributed a lot effort on the camera so that there are a fair amount of surprising changes under the lens surface. And the most magical trick, in my opinion, is Super Slom-mo. With it, we can shoot 960 frames per second, stretching 0.2 seconds of activity out into six seconds of video. And it’s extremely easy to set up too: simply draw a box on the screen, and the slow-motion recorder will kick in whenever motion is detected within that space. The first word came to my mind when I watch the promo video, is fantastic. It’s perfect photographic equipment for traveling, party, and sports. Speaking of traveling, some of you may want to know whether Samsung Galaxy S9/ S9 plus is waterproof enough to take pictures or shoot Super Slow-mo underwater when you travel to the seaside. Let’s find the answer.
The Samsung Galaxy S9 & S9 plus are IP68, the same rating as S8
IP stands for Ingress Protection, which indicates how easily water and dust can intrude in the internals of your devices. The first number refers to dust-resistant rating while the second for water-resistant rating. Like the last generation Galaxy S8, S9 and S9 plus are rated at IP68. The number 8 indicates they are resistant to submersion up to a maximum depth of 1.5m underwater for up to 30mins. But it only works when your phone is hermetically sealed. If you are sure it is, you should read the specification and operate underwater carefully according to it.
It’s hard to make sure your S9/ S9+ won’t be damaged in any circumstances underwater. So, it’s better not try to take photos underwater with your S9/ S9+ underwater without extra protection. After all, we can’t make sure Samsung will help us to fix it if we break them underwater.
How to shoot Super Slow-mo videos underwater without worry?
If you’re looking forward to using your Samsung S9/ S9 plus for underwater photography or have an older non-water resistant phone, then we would strongly advise you to buy a waterproof case. A high-quality waterproof case will provide extra protection for your S9/S9+ and give you the ability to take underwater shots without having to constantly worry about it malfunctioning.

My wife bout a $1,000 9 plus when it came out. It got a little wet on day, not under water, and they say the phone is defective but will not replace the phone. I don’t understand if you have a defective phone that have been maintain well why won’t they replaced it. They told us when we bought that it can be water for 30 minutes, it’s false advertisement.
