Samsung just released a new budget phone for 2023, the Galaxy A14. It’s a $200 Android 13 smartphone with an expansive screen, 5G support, a new design, and a pretty solid camera array for the price. Although it’s common for such a wallet-friendly phone to make a few compromises, you may still be wondering: Is the Galaxy A14 waterproof?
The easiest way to determine if your Samsung phone is waterproof is to look for its IP rating, which measures a product’s protection against liquids and solids. The full name of “IP” is “Ingress Protection”, and the two numbers following it shows the level of dust protection and liquid protection respectively. Like the A13 that came before, the Galaxy A14 has no IP rating, which means that it is not waterproof. The phone may offer some small amount of water resistance in any way, but don’t expect it to survive immersion in water. In either case, you get it wet at your own risk—Samsung doesn’t cover the device under warranty that it would survive any exposure to water or even dust. Besides, the 3.5mm headphone jack provides another way for water to get inside.
