After years of anticipation, Google finally unveiled its own wearable: the Pixel Watch, coming with a circular always-on display, built-in speaker and microphone, NFC, and a bunch of health sensors like an optical heart rate sensor, blood oxygen sensor, and a multipurpose electrical sensor. However, if you own an iPhone already, you may be wondering if the Pixel Watch is compatible with iPhone.
The Pixel Watch runs on Wear OS 3.5 which is the latest version of Wear OS. Except the Pixel Watch, you can also see Galaxy Watch 4 series and 5 series are equipped with this version of Wear OS. So which phones support Pixel Watch? On the Pixel Watch help page, Google states that it is compatible with a phone that runs on Android 8.0 or higher. Since current Android phones run on Android 13, theoretically you can pair the Pixel Watch with your Android device that you’ve used for 3-4 years.
However, note that certain features is only available on Pixel phone, such as the Fast Fair functionality. And if you want to use the Pixel Watch as a remote camera shutter, you need to pair it with Pixel 7 or Pixel 7 Pro.
If you have an Android phone and a Pixel Watch, what to do to pair them? Here’s how:
- Press and hold the Watch crown for three seconds until your phone pop up with a pairing notification.
- On the Pixel Watch, select your desired language and accept the terms of service.
- On your phone, open the Pixel Watch app, then follow the on-screen instructions, and select Google Pixel Watch.
- A pairing code should appear on both devices. If the codes are the same, tap Confirm on your phone, which may take a few minutes. If the codes are different, restart the watch and try again.
- To finish, follow the on-screen instructions.
