Does Pixel 6a support fingerprint scanner
People have been plagued a lot by the fingerprint scanner since the launch of Google Pixel 6 and 6 Pro. When unlocking the phones through the scanner, it is just frustrating and slow. Google published several updates for the issue, but the speed and performance is still not as good as other phones.
Luckily, it is reported that Google learnt from the feedback and has improved the fingerprint scanner on both the new Pixel 6a. In a video review posted by the Malaysian YouTuber Fazlim Halim, Pixel 6a and Pixel 6 lineup were compared, leading to the conclusion that 6a’s fingerprint scanner seems to be faster and more accurate. It could be that Google figured out a firmware fix or simply used the more reliable sensor.
Does Pixel 6a support face unlock
The short answer is no. Pixel 6a doesn’t feature face unlock. Google has ever turned to dedicated hardware (IR cameras, dot projector, and flood illuminator) that leveraged Soli radar to proactively turn on the face unlock sensors as you reach for your phone. After that, you can’t take advantage of this feature on Pixel 5. Pixel 6 series (Pixel 6 Pro, at least) were rumored to support some sort of camera-centric unlock, but until now, this hasn’t actually happened.
If face unlock is your deal-breaker, you may want to wait until the launch of Pixel 7, according to the new evidence that Google is still at work to enable face unlock on the Pixel 6 Pro and Pixel 7.
Anyway, Google will finally release the phone on July 28, 2022 in 12 countries. You can now preorder the Google Pixel 6a for around $449-$499, depending on the retailer.
