It is reported that OnePlus’ new mid-range phone OnePlus Z will come out in July, the same time when its rival Pixel 4a will be released. Many people are expecting that this new phone would be a real high-quality OnePlus mid-ranger, as its successor OnePlus X was ever plagued by poor camera performance and weak battery life in spite of a 5-inch Full HD AMOLED display, Snapdragon 801 processor, 3GB of RAM, and a 13MP rear camera on a $249 price tag.
The upcoming OnePlus phone was leaked by OnLeaks and 91mobiles early in December 2019, when its name was presumed to be the OnePlus 8 Lite. As you can see from the video, the phone comes with a punch-hole display, a possible glass back, and what could be an alert slider like other OnePlus phones. There are slim bezels, and the display isn’t curved at all, the feature you can get from OnePlus 8 and 8 Pro.
On top of that, more recent renders show that there are three cameras instead of two on the back, with an LED flash to the right of the camera bump. And different from OnePlus 8, the camera bump is off to the side rather than center-mounted. However, it appears to lack a 3.5mm headphone jack, only a USB-C port is offered for charging or connecting adapters. This is a disappointment, as flagships are ditching headphone jack in recent years, but most mid-range phones still keep it. Anyway, if it is the truth, you will have to either use Bluetooth headphones or connect your wired earphones via USB-C to audio jack adapter.
Mentioning the specs of OnePlus Z, it’s great to see that OnePlus will get the Qualcomm Snapdragon 765 for the first time, the same processor in the LG Velvet and the rumored Pixel 5. Other noticeable specs include 8GB of RAM, 128GB to 256GB of storage, 40,000mAh battery, and 30W fast charging. Multiple leaks except OnePlus official have confirmed these, so everything will just be clear until OnePlus Z finally shows up in July.
