Google Pixel 3 XL, coming with a same price level as the new Samsung Note 9, is expected to pack all highlights that a flagship phone should have. Tom’s guide rated it 4.5 out of 5 and praise it delivering the best camera on a phone, an immersive 6.3-inch OLED screen, and the handiest AI feature yet. However, how about the popular standard configuration of flagship phones, facial recognition and the in-screen fingerprint sensor?

There is a fingerprint reader on the back of Google Pixel 3XL, so you can forget about the in-screen fingerprint sensor. It’s a bit of a bummer, but acceptable. After all, it has a fingerprint sensor, just in a different position and you just haven’t got a chance to show off. The real disappointment is that Google Pixel 3 XL got a notch at the top to bring itself in line with most 2018 phone releases, but without facial recognition. Probably, Google hasn’t got the security tight enough in the front-facing camera to offer facial recognition, but it’s disappointing to see this missing from the pixel line.
