Keyboard

The 3rd butterfly keyboard of the new MacBook Pro improved a lot than before. Earlier, Apple admitted that there were design flaws in the butterfly keyboard used on both MacBook and MacBook Pro. When the dust accumulated to a certain extent, the keyboard would be out of order.

This time, Apple didn’t make a major structural change to the butterfly keyboard, but added a layer of organosilicon film between the keycap and the base to provide dust and noise reduction. In the iFixit test, several keycaps of the new MacBook Pro were unpacked and sprayed the fluorescent powder onto the keyboard. They then illuminated the phosphors with fluorescent light and found that the phosphors didn’t invade the keyboard. Obviously, this layer of organosilicon film plays the most critical protection.

Performance

The test scores of CINEBENCH R15 and Geekbench 4 is the same as 2x faster speed that Apple officially claimed. This year’s 13-inch processor performance is significantly improved than the previous generation. Surprisingly, the new MacBook Pro 13-inch model still has some advantages even compared with the 15-inch i7 version last year.

This time Apple also launched Blackmagic eGPU, so if you have a higher demand on the notebook graphics rendering capabilities, the overall performance of the 13-inch version in the combination with an eGPU is stronger than last year’s 15 inches.
