Is the audio performance of Honor Magic 5 good?

Recently, according to a survey on the audio test of the Honor Magic5 Pro, we can learn that the playback performance of the Honor Magic5 Pro is very great.

Tonal balance lacks some low-end and high-end extension, but is pleasantly natural overall. Dynamics are also good, with precise attack, high bass precision, and good punch at both nominal and soft volumes. The built-in speakers produce wonderful wideness, but there’s some room for improvement given the device’s sizeable size. Individual sound sources are fairly easy to pinpoint in a sound scene, but localization capabilities can be a bit fuzzy, especially for complex audio content that mixes many sound elements, such as movies or symphonies. Balance is perfectly centered, and distance interpretation is accurate, but depth interpretation could be better, and the sound-stage can sound shallow, especially when listening to classical music.

In this survey, the Honor Magic5 Pro performed very well as a recording device, with a pleasant sound. Tonal balance is also nice, especially in front-facing camera recordings and the Voice Memos app. Only when recording with the main camera did our testers find that loud music content sounded a bit nasal and lacked bass. Dynamic performance is generally very good, but varies by use case. When recording loud concerts, experts found that attacks were significantly less sharp and plosives were more dull than in other use cases.

In all use cases, distance reproduction is very sound, with sounds appearing at the correct distance. The localization ability of individual sound sources and the breadth of the sound scene are average. The Honor’s loudness is very good in all test scenarios, but objective measurements show that the Honor may have some difficulty recording at high sound pressure levels, such as live concerts. As with playback, experts observed few unwanted audio artifacts in recordings. Finger noise is barely audible, and if you accidentally cover the mic while recording, it barely impacts audio quality. Background reproduction is excellent and tonal balance is good, but some bass is lacking.

According to the findings, the phone’s maximum volume setting was loud enough, but in some cases the minimum volume setting was slightly lower, making it difficult to hear quieter sound elements. Testers noticed few unwanted audio artifacts, with only some distortion at maximum volume. We also found that the Honor is not particularly sensitive to hand occlusion of the speaker.
