iPhone X Camera Can’t Focus Anymore After Update to 11.2

If you recently updated your iPhone X to iOS 11.2, it might go simply go back and forth and not focus on the subject when you try the camera. A user on MacRumors said since updating to 11.2, the camera of iPhone X has a huge issue focusing. Focus on the wide angle lens only seems to work for object close to the lens but as soon as he tried to focus on something that is 1-2m or further away, the images are completely out of focus. It wouldn’t work with the stock camera app and also fails with third-party apps.

Why iPhone camera can’t focus anymore after update to 11.2?

Most of the time Apple camera focus issue happens on particular iPhone models. Mainly the reason could be loose lens position or new iOS update.

You cannot go back to iOS 10 if you are fed up with iOS 11.2 problems or annoying iOS 11.2 features. Apple closed the ability to downgrade iOS system. If you are on iOS 11.2, you are stuck there with no ability to downgrade to earlier versions now that Apple killed all downgrade routes completely. You’d better not attempt to use these instructions to downgrade from iOS 11.2 or you will have further problems.

If your photos are blurred, out of focus, or have dark spots, try these steps as Apple suggested:

1.Make sure that the camera lens is clean. If you need to clean the lens, use a microfiber cloth. If you see dirt or debris inside the lens, take your device to an Apple Retail Store or Authorized Service Provider for more help.

2.For iPhone models that feature optical image stabilization: A metallic case or magnetic lens could interfere with this feature. Try taking a picture without the case or lens, and then compare the quality.

3.To focus on a certain object or person, tap that object or person on the preview screen. You’ll see the screen pulse, or briefly go in and out of focus, as the camera adjusts. In photo mode, try to stay steady when you adjust the focus. If you move too far in any direction, the camera will automatically refocus to the center. In video mode, you can adjust the focus before you begin recording.

If you still have issues with the focus on your camera, contact Apple Support.
