How do I update my Fitbit

If you like exercise or fitness, you may have or at least heard of Fitbit. Fitbit can track your heartbeat, your moving distance, calories you consumed, and even track your sleep. If you buy a Fitbit recently, and you are wandering how to update the Fitbit tracker and relevant app, you should read on. Or you may want to know why is your Fitbit not working. 

1. How do I update my Fitbit tracker?

Fitbit releases free firmware updates occasionally for feature enhancement and bug fixes for Fitbit tracker. Before update your firmware, make sure your tracker is charged firstly, because the firmware update can take several minutes and demands enough battery. And if you update your tracker at midnight, you may see an inaccurate step count for 24 hours, since the tracker resets its data at that time.

Check your firmware version:

• Open the Fitbit apps on your phone. (If you don’t have one, please download it in the first place.)
• Tap or click the Account tab and then tap your tracker tile. You’ll see the version number below the most recent sync time.

Note that with Fitbit Blaze and Fitbit Surge you can swipe to the Settings screen to see your current firmware version.

Update your Fitbit tracker:

• On the fitbit.com dashboard, click the gear icon in the top right
• Find your device settings.
• Tap update to start.

2. Why can’t I update my Fitbit tracker?

Update Failures

If you see this image, your update has failed. You’ll be unable to use your tracker until the error is solved.

• Tap a screen or press a button to return to the clock
• Try the update again.
• If the update doesn’t work still, restart your tracker and try again.

Low battery or low/high temperature

If you see the critically low battery sign when attempting a firmware update, charge your tracker and try the update again.

If you see a temperature sign, try the firmware update again when tracker has cooled off or warmed up.

3. How do I update the Fitbit app for iOS to a newer version?

Fitbit occasionally releases new version of the Fitbit app on App Store providing new feature enhancement and bug fixes.

Check your Fitbit app version:

• Open the Fitbit apps on your phone. (If you don’t have one, please download it in the first place.)
• Tap the Account tab.
• Tap Help. You will see the app version at the top of the screen.

Update your Fitbit tracker:

• On your iOS device, tap App Store.
• Tap the Updates tab.
• If a Fitbit update is available, you’ll see Fitbit in the list of pending updates.
• Tap Update.

If you have an Android phone, you can also check your Fitbit app version by following instructions above. And then check whether there is a new version or not in the apps market where you download this Fitbit app.
