How to Check Your Apple Pencil Battery Charge
Apple Pencil is an amazing stylus and great iPad Pro accessory, but it doesn’t offer any way to tell how much of a charge is left on its battery. Not a problem, because Apple has an easy way you can monitor your Apple Pencil charge from your iPad. Read on to learn how.
Here’s how:
Swipe down your iPad display from the bezel area to show Widgets and Notifications
Tap Edit at the bottom of the Widgets list
• Look for Batteries in the DO NOT INCLUDE section, then tap it’s green add button
• Tap Done
Now you should see your iPad, Apple Pencil, and other Bluetooth accessories along with their respective charges in the Batteries section. That’s a lot easier than waiting for your Apple Pencil’s battery to die to know it’s time to recharge.
How to Charge Apple Pencil?
Apple gives users two ways to charge it.
First, connect the Apple Pencil to the iPad Pro’s Lightning port like you would if you’re pairing the Apple Pencil. For fast charging, plug your Apple Pencil into the Lightning connector on your iPad Pro. Thanks to the fast charging feature we get when connected to the iPad Pro’s Lightning port, it charged my Apple Pencil from about 75% to 100% in a few minutes. It will go from dead to 100% in less than 10 minutes.
You can also plug into a USB port with the Apple Pencil Charging Adapter included in the Apple Pencil retail box and a Lightning to USB cable. It’s another tiny thing to lose, so keep it somewhere safe, like plugged into a Lightning sync/charging cable.
Plug the adapter to the Apple Pencil’s Lightning connector. Plug the other end of the adapter into a Lightning cable. Plug the Lightning cable’s USB connector into a USB port on a computer, AC adapter, battery backup device or a USB car charger. Unless these support fast charging just like the smart charger , it will take the Pencil a lot longer to charge to 100%.

Bonus Tip: Replace the Apple Pencil Tip
The Pencil tip screws off so that the user can replace it. One spare tip comes with the Apple Pencil. It will likely wear out over time, so save that tip in a safe place where you won’t lose it. I suggest leaving both the tip and the charging adapter in the box the Pencil came in.
