The notch horizontally lying on the top of smartphone has been complained for many years. Now, it is finally removed on Vivo Nex! Vivo, a Chinese middle-range smartphone maker, is not as famous as some big names like Apple or Samsung, but it has devoted itself in innovation and making breakthrough. Focusing on music and camera, it brought us Vivo Nex on June 12, 2018 this time — the first bezel-free smartphone.
You may be surprised by this wonder, but follow a question — where will be the selfie camera and earpiece things located if there is no notch housing them anymore? Is Vivo Nex the true all-screen smartphone?
Everything you need to know about Vivo Nex
Vivo Nex is almost the so all-screen phone that comes with a 91.2% screen-to-body ratio and a retractable 8MP selfie camera which can pops up from the top with an optional cool background sound, but it still keeps its chin on the bottom which is why I call it an almost-all-screen smartphone. The speaker originally on the notch has been replaced by “screen sound casting technology” or in-display speaker which generates sound output beneath the display. Also, there is no rear fingerprint on the phone but an in-display fingerprint scanner instead. This is why Vivo Nex built the particular slim bezels.
And Vivo, finally, has equipped its Nex with a USB Type-C port! Although it doesn’t support wireless charging which adopted by most smartphones 2018, it still works well with fast charging and a powerful 4,000 mAh battery which claims to last up to 14-15 hours with very heavy usage.
Nex S V.S. Nex A
There are two models of Vivo Nex — Nex S and Nex A, and here comes their specs
There is no big difference between Nex S and Nex A, except for their storage and processor. If I upgrade to Vivo Nex, I might choose the cheaper model and just for its new impressive features of pop-up camera!
After having a simple look of Vivo Nex, do you think this smartphone worth buying? Pre-booking started 13th June 2018, but it will be available in offline stores of China, and there is no international availability. If you are eager to experience the bezel-free smartphone at once, you may have to pay a slight premium for it.
