About the Battery
First let’s talk about the type of battery. Just like most of the electronic devices on the market, Surface laptop has applied the rechargeable li-ion battery, a kind of battery praised for zero maintenance requirements, very little wasted energy, extended cycle life and so forth.
Another thing you may wonder is how long the battery life is. Actually, the battery life varies significantly with settings, usage and other factors, and it is reported that Surface laptop has a battery life of up to 14.5 hours of video playback.
About the Port
Strange enough, Surface laptop is still providing us with a USB 3.0 port instead of a USB-C one, which more or less disappoints some of tech enthusiasts. In fact, the latter is a trend of future technology. One of the benefits of USB-C is that it provides up to 100W of power to attached devices, easily enough to charge almost any laptop, smartphone, or tablet.
Those who concern about the latest electronic products may have noticed that Apple MacBook Pro unveiled last year and Samsung Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 Plus released in April this year have already had a taste of this new type of port.
How to Charge Faster
To charge your Surface laptop faster, the first thing is to turn off it, and the reason is that some of the power must be diverted to the processor and other components, leaving less to charge the battery.
Besides, the charging time needed also depends on how low its battery has drained. The more power left, the less time will be spent in waiting for full charge.
Using the battery properly is also important. One common mistake is overcharging. Most of us forget to remove the cable after the battery is full charged, which does harm to the battery and may have bad effect on the charging efficiency.
Well, above is a brief introduction about the battery, port and tips for fast charging of Surface laptop and I hope that would be helpful. If you have more tips for fast charging, contact and share with us!

Thank you so much for the article. One Question- thought today you cant “overcharge” a battery with the new technology? Is that not true?
Overcharge is always not recommended, it will affect the lifespan of battery and cause overheat
It is true with the latest technology in smartphones and laptops you can’t overcharge the device because once it is fully charged the system shuts the charging process and starts feeding the laptop with power directly as if the battery was removed. the battery is maintained at 100% by trickle charging.
