Does Samsung Galaxy S8 Have a Removable Battery

The new released Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8 plus have drawn public a lot of attentions. After months of leaks and speculation, there weren’t too many surprises left at the launch day. However, the spontaneous combustion of a bunch of brand new Note 7s happened last year made some fans suggested Samsung reconsidering using the removable batteries, does Samsung really accept the suggestion to have a removable battery on Samsung Galaxy S8?

Reasons for Non-removable Battery
The answer was verified on the launch day, the Samsung Galaxy S8 comes with a non-removable battery. Today, it is a trend for smartphones to give up modular battery compartment as they are ready to cater to consumers’ requirement for sleeker and thinner design. Furthermore, the waterproofed mobile phones are much desirable for customers. The main reason Samsung have given for removing modular battery compartments from their S7 phones is to improve water resistance and the design continues on the Samsung Galaxy S8.

Does Samsung Galaxy S8 Have a Removable Battery》有21个想法

  1. I have a new S8. I am using the charger that came with it. While charging the screen reads: FAST CHARGING. Charing xx%. Approximately xx minutes remaining. It takes between 2.5 – 3 hours to charge from 5% up to 100%. My former phone, a S5 charged fully in about 45 minutes. Most disappointing.

    1. I also have the S8 and it only takes just minutes for my phone to fully charge, and it the battery is long lasting.

      1. Your battery is long lasting…one month in. Samsung batteries are notorious for needing early replacement. Personally, I have had 4 Samsungs, S and note series. I found all of their batteries were crap in about a year. My wife had all the same phones, crap batteries for her too. Many websites have this similar complaint.Brian Benson is correct.

      2. Have had our samsung s4 for three years, still on the original battery.

      3. Wow…lol I have an S4 and get a new battery about every year…I am going to get a S5 because I use Verizon prepaid and a truck driver I go to Canada and want to use Verizon Travel Pass which requires at least a S5 phone

  2. Catering to consumer demands? No, it’s about generating more revenue.
If you can buy into the overly cheesy excuse of it benefiting us customers, you’re an idiot.

It’s quite simple, if a customer spends $800 on a new device and the device lifespan is around 18 months, which is around the lifespan of an every day users battery, the more likely the customer will replace with a newer device if they don’t have the option to replace their battery.
Do not listen to these obscene manufacturer propaganda.
No everyone wants a removable battery, yet not everyone wants their phones to be paper thin too.

Remember, the thinner it gets, the easier it is to break. Common rule with Smart Phones.

So no, I’m not buying such a petty excuse. It does NOT benefit the customer one bit.

If they can fit water resistance chasis, enhanced camera designs, better cpu, ram and an amazing screen in even a lighter and thinner design, they can most certainly add a removable battery feature.
    Bunch of Poppycock.

    1. Agreed. I went in to get this – having delayed getting a new phone (still have a Galaxy 5) and refused to buy it because of the battery. I’m on my 3rd battery in my current phone – and tend to use my phones until they brick. Better for the environment, better for my pocket.

      1. The s5 is a hell of a good device. I think it’s the last model with an ir blaster too. I have 4 backup batteries and I love that feature.

  3. I would prefer a removable battery. Don’t really care about waterproof. I have a Note 4. And I guess I will be keeping it for a while. I haven’t upgraded due to no removable battery issue.

    1. Me too…removable battery all the way. That is one of my requirements aling with a good camera. I also have the Note 4.

  4. I too have a Note 4 and will keep it until they go back to phones that have replaceable batteries.

  5. My glaxacy s8 wont go off or turn off seems like its stuck. Wont call out and it’s not accepting calls what do i do

    1. No wonder that it’s defected, I’m afraid that you need to contact the after-sale customer service for a fix.

  6. I won’t be buying that model. The only Samsung I will buy is one with a removable battery.

    1. My thoughts exactly. I’m ready for a new phone and the Samsung S8 was at the top of my list. But the non-removable battery is a deal killer for me.

  7. Agreed. I went in to get this – having behind schedule getting a new telephone (nevertheless have a Galaxy 5) and refused to shop for it because of the battery. I’m on my 3rd battery in my present day phone – and tend to use my phones till they brick. higher for the environment, higher for my pocket.
