Quick Charge technology was originally introduced by Qualcomn Inc. What is Quick Charge indeed?
We use a large number of devices daily. Like smartphones, camera, smart watch, iPod etc. Different device requires different charging power. What if all the power requirements of all the charging devices could be fulfilled by just one charger? Let’s call it smart charger. So what does it exactly do? It detects only charging current and delivers the maximum.
These chargers are branded by their manufacturer with different names such as Smart by EasyAcc and Aipower by Aukey.
Now imagine a charger that can not only detect charging current and delivers the maximum but also communicate with the charging device as what is the temperature level, how much is the device capable to take the power from the charger. That’s when Qualcomm’s quick charge technology comes into picture.
The rate of quick charging of your phone indirectly depends on the processes running in the background and directly on the temperature of the phone. Listening music, playing games or browsing videos heats your phone up and the same does the charging, not to mention when you do both simultaneously.
In order to overcome the damage that happens to your device in long run, charging power gets regulated. That means, if the phone’s temperature is rising, the rate of charging your phone will get slower. Similarly, the time required to charge your device from 0 to 30, 30 to 60, 60 to 90 and 90 to 100 may vary. It will charge fastest in the beginning and slowest in the end.
That is how quick charge technology work. This patented technology is designed to utilize noise free data lines for effective hand shaking and communication while supporting high efficiency transfer of electricity. Quick charge technology is fast effective and subject to comprehensive certification process.
What is Quick Charge 4.0?
Rumors say that Quick Charge 4.0 is coming soon! The expected release date was 17th Oct,2016, however, it didn’t come true eventually. While according to the tech information from China, the maximum output power is likely to be up to 28W from 18W (Quick Charge 3.0), what a giant leap! The output voltage/current standard would be modified to 5V/4.7A~5.6A and 9V/3A from 5V/2.5A、9V/2A、12V/1.5A (Quick Charge 2.0). It means that it’s possible to juice up your device to more than 80% in 30 minutes.
Qualcomn Quick Charge 4.0 technology will accelerate not only the charging process but also the related products updates for sure. In order to support the upcoming tech, quick charge 4.0 devices, cords, chargers, power banks are coming into the market accordingly. Do we all need to upgrade the accessories? Don’t worry, Qualcomn always consider about the compatibility, if your accessories support Quick Charge 3.0 or lower, there would be no trouble to fit with Quick Charge 4.0 devices.

I would think Quick Charge 4.0 would be fully variable voltage like QC 3.0 was, not revert back to the 5, 9, 12V levels of QC 2.0
Possibly, let’s check it out then
you have to allow for heat distribution and overheating devices . That is what I blieve may have caused the change which has no affect on speed.
