How to Charge Apple Watch – with and without a charger

Charging an Apple Watch is not a difficult thing. But for an Apple Watch beginning user, they may still have questions such as how to charge Apple Watch? How to charge Apple Watch without charger? How to charge Apple Watch faster and can I charge Apple Watch overnight? Below we will give answers to all questions.

How to charge Apple Watch with charger?

The Apple Watch comes with a magnetic charging cable or magnetic charging case. Charge Apple Watch with cable is very easy:

  1. Plug the charging cable into a 5watts power adapter;
  2. Place the Apple Watch on the concave side of the charger;
  3. The charger’s magnets align your Apple Watch and you’ll hear a chime and see the charging symbol on the watch face.
  4. Swipe to the watch face and then to the battery glance, you can see green sign (means the Apple Watch is being charged).

How to charge Apple Watch without charger?

Except the charging cable comes with the Apple Watch, people also found other ways to charge their watch without this charger.

Slide off the Apple Watch’s bottom band, peek into the connection slot and you‘ll find there is a hidden port that Apple doesn’t acknowledge to public. One accessory maker claims this six-pin port can in fact be used to charge the device. Check the video below to see how to make it:

From the video we can obviously conclude that charging using the 6 pin accessory port is slightly faster than wireless inductive charging. And one thing the video didn’t show is that there was less ambient heat radiated on the back watch when charging Apple Watch without cable. So we need not to worry about the Apple Watch hot after charging.

    1. Excuse me, but are you a retard? You could find this website but you can’t google for a retailer that sells Apple Watch chargers?

      I’ve lost my faith in humanity. I hope you threw away your watch, you ain’t worth it.

      1. Wow. You ask if he’s a retard. One doesn’t have to ask if you’re a ignorant asshole. You make it clear.

      2. Oh boo hoo, did the use of the word “retard” hurt your snowflake feelings?

      3. I’m in agreement with mike, this guy gives retards a bad name. How did he first, earn the money to buy the watch. Second, make it to the store without getting rolled? And third, even decide he wanted something, as he obviously lacks a functioning cerebral cortex, thus making the ability to “want” anything beyond fish food an impossibility.

      4. Can we hack a wireless toothbrush charger (SonicAir) to charge and Apple Watch series 2? TIA

  1. I use my Apple watch throughout the day and also log my sleep during the night. This leaves me with small openings of possible times to charge my watch. I therefore got into the habit of charging my watch during my morning shower and at night while i get ready for bed. I almost never go all the way down to 0% and almost never go all the way up to 100%. Will this effect my battery in any way?

    1. All lithium batteries have limited charging cycles.Theoretically, battery from 0% to 100% is a full charge. That is a cycle. In practice, most battery will not be used to 0% till get recharged. So no matter how many times you charge your battery, as long as the sum of charge quantity reaches 100%, it is recorded as a cycle. For example, the first time the battery is charged from 40%, and the next time the battery is charged from 60%, then the two times of charge is a cycle. Therefore, you don’t need to worry about the negative effect at all.

      1. So having a portable charger to partially charge during the day is a good idea? Is there one in particular you’d recommend? TIA.

    2. Actually, not charging it to 100 and not draining it to 0 is good. The best possible thing to do is to keep the charge between 60 and 65. But obviously that’s ridiculous. What your doing is good!

  2. Not sure this got thru all the flames below, so I’m re-submitting my question. Can we hack a wireless toothbrush charger (SonicAir) to charge an Apple Watch series 2? If not, are there any other DIY options? Apple branded chargers here in Kanada are ridiculously priced. TIA

  3. I got apple 7000 series watch, I plug it in with charger and nothing happened except the apple symbol comes and go.
    What should I do

  4. I bought a apple watch from a friend but with none of the chargers or cables. How can I charge it if I dont have the charger.
